Mustangs season ends with playoff loss to defending champion.

The Mustangs traveled to Uniondale for their semi-final playoff game. The final score was not indicative how physical and well played the game was. Both teams were crisp in a cleanly played football game.

The game started with Uniondale Knights receiving the opening kickoff. The Mustang defense held the Knights on four downs to give the ball to the Mustang offense. The Mustang offense ground out tough yards before giving the ball back to the Uniondale offense. Again, the physical Mustang defense wouldn't yield as Uniondale tried to pound the ball between the tackles. The Knights offense went 4 and out and the Mustang offense took the field.

The defending champs three talented defensive linemen were beginning to control the line of scrimmage as the Mustang drive stalled. On the ensuing possession the Knights offense still couldn't move the ball but on 3rd an long a blown coverage led to a wide open Uniondale receiver which led to the first Uniondale score.

Midway through the 2nd quarter, again on a long yardage situation, fate stepped in and Uniondale scored on a sweep as the Mustang contain defender tripped and fell down in a divot in the field. The half ended with Uniondale leading 12-0 though the Mustangs matched the Knights with physicality and emotion.

The second half opened with the Mustangs Ason Richards returning the 2nd half kickoff for a 60 yard touchdown to make the score 12-6. Just as it seemed the momentum was beginning to turn, Uniondale then returned the favor by returning the Mustang kickoff for a TD to make the score 18-6.

The rest of the game remained a physical battle but every bounce and break was going in favor of the Knights which the champs capitalized on. The Mustangs put a drive together in the fourth qtr as Joshua George capped off the drive with a 6yd touchdown run.

The Mustangs remained emotional and physical to the end and played to their abilities, but just couldn't overcome a more talented Knights team.

The future for this Mustang team is bright as they move on in the Mustang careers. The coaches would like to thank all the players for their dedication and hard work throughout the season. They were a great group of kids to coach:

Michael Alongi, Chistian Capogna, Michael Deluca, John DeVito, Joe Fazio, Joshua George, Nick Hink, Christian Jean-Bart, Jason Kovaluskie, Ryan Kurrowski, Adam Lamandola, Michael Mais III, Thomas Mancini, Braden Mehm, CJ Novelli, Ason Richards, Leo Rosario, Domenic Saez, Ryan Simon, Dean Vitale, Max Ziegler.

The 10s (7-2) traveled to RVC on their bye week for a warm up game before heading to Uniondale next week's playoff game. Both teams have playoff dates next week.

In the 2nd half the Mustang defense remained solid while the Mustang offense returned to its tackle-to-tackle inside run game. The Mustang offensive line took control of the game as the Mustangs went on two scoring drives with QB Dominek Saenz and Josh George scoring to end the drives. Michael Deluca, Max Ziegler, Ason Richards and Michael Mais all ran the ball for positive yards on the drives.

The offensive line led by TE CJ Novelli with Nick Hink, Ryan Simon, Christian Jean-Bart, Leo Rosario and Thomas Mancini were the stars of the game in the second half.

The Mustang 10s continued their playoff march with a 25-0 victory against the Garden City Thunder at Garden City HS. The Mustangs finished their regular season with a 6-2 record.

The Mustang 10s scored 2 of the first 3 times they had the ball while the Mustangs controlled the line-of-scrimmage on defense.

A one yard plunge by QB Dominick Saenz followed by the extra point pass to Braden Mehm gave the Mustangs an early 7-0 lead. On the next drive the Mustangs scored again as Saenz dodged a Garden City defender and completed a pass Mehm for a 30 yard TD. The Mustangs missed the extra point and the score was 13-0.

In the 2nd qtr, the Mustang offensive line led my Leo Rosario, Ryan Simon, Nick Hink and CJ Novelli allowed running backs Ason Richards, Michael Mais and Michael Deluca to rip off big chunks of yards. Deluca capped off a 60 yard TD drive with a 20 yard TD run to make the score 19-0. Again, the Mustangs missed the extra point. The Mustang defense remained stingy as the half ended with the score 19-0.

Garden City received the 2nd half kickoff and a Michael Mais interception gave the ball back to the Mustang offense. The Mustang offensive line continued their strong play as fullback back Max Ziegler carried the load on most of the drive. The drive ended with a Joshua George 15 yard TD run setup by the blocking of wide receiver Johhny DeVito.

The rest of the way the Mustang defense led by Ryan Kurowski, Adam Lamandola, Christian Capogna and Christian Jean-Bart held Garden City scoreless.

10s move to 5-2 with victory!

Despite sloppy play and numerous turnovers the 10s prevailed to defeat the Bellmore Braves 6-0.

The first half was marred by Mustang turnovers but strong defense kept the game 0-0 at the end of the half.

The second half continued where the first half left off. Bellmore received the opening kickoff and the Mustang defense stopped the opening drive. Again sloppy play allowed a physical Bellmore defense to make stops. Teams then traded possessions as the 3rd qtr end still 0-0.

Early in the 4th qtr the Mustang offense finally broke through on a 60 yard Ason Richards TD run. The extra point was thwarted with the Mustangs leading 6-0.

The rest of the way both defenses held the opposing offenses with the Mustang defense making the final stop with a minute remaining. The Mustangs then ran out the clock to end the game.

Excellent performances were turned in on defense by Jason Kovaluski, CJ Novelli, Ryan Simon, Michael Maiis, Domiick Saenz, Christian Jean-Bart and Adam Lamendola to secure the shutout.

MUSTANG 10s BACK ON WINNING TRACK!

In a hard fought battle, the Mustang 10s defeated a tough Farmingdale team with a 2nd half come from behind victory...

Both teams played stingy defense in the first quarter as offensive drives stalled. Midway through the second quarter, on 3rd and long. the Mustang defense gave up a big play, something that has plagued the 10s all season, for the first score of the game. A Farmingdale receiver caught a pass covered by 2 Mustang defenders then ran it to the house for a 6-0 Farmingdale lead. The Mustang defense held the Hawks on the extra point. The Mustang offense continued to sputter as the first half ended with the Hawks leading 6-0.

The 2nd half opened w. the Hawks receiving the ball and the Mustang defense stiffened and forced a put.. Both teams continued to play tough physical defense as the quarter progressed but the Mustang offensive line w. CJ Novelli, Jason Kovaluski, Adam Lamandola, and Leo Rosario was beginning to take control. Fullback Michael Deluca was beginning to churn out consistent positive yards as the Mustangs finally got on the scoreboard w. a 2 yard Deluca plunge. The Mustangs were denied the extra point to keep the score 6-6 where the score remained as the 3rd qtr ended.

The Mustang defense kept getting more physical as play moved into the 4th qtr. Farmingdale was now being forced to punt on every possession. Midway through the 4th qtr a bad snap from center on a punt gave the Mustangs great field possession. The Mustangs seized on the opportunity and a score by Dom Saenz capped off a 35 yard drive to make the score 12-6. The Mustangs again were denied the extra point.

With just over 4 minutes remaining, the Mustang defense led by Braden Mehm, Michael Maiis, Ryan Simon and Christian Jean-Bart forced the Hawks to punt. The Mustangs then ripped off a couple of first downs then Ason Richards iced the game with a 6 yard run to make the 18-6

Rosedale dominates from start to finish.

On a rainy windy day, the Mustangs lost their final home game to the Rosedale Jets 20-0. The Mustangs received the opening kickoff and couldn't mount a drive on their first four downs.

The Jets then went on offense and began pushing the Mustangs defenders back on inside runs for hard fought chunks of yards. On long yardage situations during the drive, missed Mustang tackles kept the Jets drive alive and eventually led to the first Jets touchdown which gave the Jets an early 6-0 lead. On the extra point attempt, Mustang defenders had the Jets quarterback deep in his own backfield, but again missed tackles led to a successful extra point attempt that made the score 7-0.

As the game progressed the pattern continued. The Mustang offense couldn't mount sustained drives against the quick Rosedale defenders. On offense, Rosedale continued to pound the ball inside successfully on fullback dives as the Rosedale offensive line ground out tough yards. Rosedale then scored again on a wing reverse that caught the Mustang defense out of position to give the Jets a 14-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Mustang defense showed more grit stopping a few Rosedale drives and causing a turnover, but again sloppy Mustang tackling on a critical down led to the final Rosedale score.

In the second half, the Mustang offense was gaining positive yards and moving the chains and got down to the Rosedale 3 yard line, but unforced errors and penalties kept the Mustangs out of the end zone.

MUSTANG 10s GO TO 3-1 IN A THRILLER W, DEFENSIVE STAND AT END AGAINST GARDEN CITY!

Before the crowd could even get seated in the stands, Mustang Michael Maiis ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown for a quick 6-0 Mustang lead. The Mustangs converted on the extra point to make it 7-0.

On the ensuing possession highly ranked Garden City responded by breaking off a 60 yard touchdown run. The Mustang defense then blocked the attempted extra point kick.

The rest of the 1st qtr remained even and the score remained 7-6 Mustangs into the 2nd qtr. The Mustang offensive line was controlling the line of scrimmage through out but small mistakes and an inopportune penalty staled drives.

Later in the qtr, the Mustang defense forced a Garden City turn over. The Mustang offense then went to work and put together a 35 yard scoring drive capped off by a pass from QB Dominick Saenz to receiver Joe Fazio. After the missed extra point the score was 13-6 Mustangs.

Garden City again responded quickly with another long TD run. Again the Mustang defense blocked the extra point attempt to keep the score 13-12. Both teams traded possessions without scoring to end the half 13-12 Mustangs.

In the 3rd, both teams went back and forth with the Mustangs getting as close as the Garden City 1 yard line where the drive stalled on 4th down. After a couple of Garden City first downs, the Mustang defense stiffened and got the ball back for the offense.

In the 4th qtr the Mustang offense, which was sharp throughout put together the winning td drive. The Mustang offensive line led by Jason Kovaluskie, CJ Novelli, Max Ziegler and Adam Lamendola cleared the path as Ason Richards followed fullback Michael Deluca on a 10 yard td run. Richards then punched in the extra point behind aggressive offensive line blocking to put the Mustangs up 20-12.

Once again Garden City was quick to answer back with another long TD run. The Mustang defense again blocked the extra point attempt to keep the score 20-18 midway through the 4th.

The ensuing Mustang offensive drive stalled and the Mustangs had to give the ball back to Garden City with under 4 minutes remaining. Garden City then started to mount a potential game winning drive as they moved the ball 1st and goal from inside the Mustang 10 yard line.

On a critical 4th down, Mustang defenders Deluca, Braden Mehm, and Christian Capogna rose to the challenge and dropped the Garden City ball carrier for a loss to give possession back to the Mustangs with 1:21 remaining in the game. Saenz then took a knee three times to end the game.

MUSTANG 10s DROP TO 2-1

Throughout Uniondale was very efficient on offense and smothering on defense. In the first half, defensive breakdowns led to big plays on 3rd and 4th and long which resulted in Uniondale first downs that allowed Uniondale drives to continue.

In the second half, poor tackling allowed short gains to become Uniondale TD's as their tough fullback kept churning his feet while the Mustang defense didn't swarm to finish the play.

Next week a tough Rosedale team comes to Burns Park. The Mustangs will need to increase their level of intensity and physicality if the expect to defeat a strong Jet team.

After trailing most of the game, quaterback Dominec Saenz threw a 30 yard TD pass to wide receiver Joe Fazio to take the lead mid-way through the 4th qtr. Star of the game, John Deluca barreled in for the extra point to make the score 19-13 Mustangs in a playoff type game.

The Mustang defense, led by Ryan Kurowski, then held off the potent Hempstead offense late in the fourth quarter. Saenz and the Mustang offense then powered for a critical first down to effectively kill the clock. Saenz took a knee with seconds remaining to end the game.

Saenz also ran for a score earlier in the game. The Mustang offensive line led by Nick Hink, Jason Kovaluski and Max Ziegler kept the Hempstead defense on its heals the entire game.

Defensively, CJ Novelli and Ason Richards made critical stops late in the 4th qtr as Hempstead tried to mount a game winning comeback.
