TO: All Massapequa Mustangs Football & Cheer Parents
Tomorrow marks the start of our football season with our Flag 5/6 Year Old Division taking the field at Burns park at 11am. It certainly has taken a lot of effort getting things underway this Fall, as we have been faced with unprecedented challenges. I'm proud that our board and our community took the challenge head on, and put together a plan and protocols to get our kids on the field safely and responsibly. Since we began our off-season training in late June (almost 3 full months), we have had had 0 reported cases of players or coaches being infected. Let's stay vigilant so we can keep the kids on the field
I want to make sure we are all on the same page regarding the thorough guidelines we have put in place to ensure that our organized low-contact group training and play days are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.

PLEASE SIGN & COMPLETE THE WAIVER ON PAGE 3, AND HAND IN AT YOUR WEEK 1 SESSION(we will have printed forms at the field for those that need them)
Here are some key high lights for all Parents, Visitors, and Spectators:
We are NOT going to restrict the amount of spectators at this time. Visitors and spectators should wear face coverings when not able to socially distance outdoors, unless doing so would inhibit the individual’s health or the individual is under the age of two.
Coaches, staff, visitors and athletes will be required to abide by the gathering’s limitations in effect at the time of activities.
Parents, players, coaches, staff, and volunteers showing symptoms of COVID-19 shall not be admitted. If any individual develops symptoms of COVID-19 during the activity, they should promptly inform organizers and must be removed from the activity and instructed to return home.
We ask that you PLEASE adhere to these off the field guidelines, SO THAT WE CAN KEEP THE KIDS ON THE FIELD.
Additionally, here is what you can expect to see from your coaches and league administrators:
All coaches should remain 6 feet away from players and other coaches, or WEAR MASKS.
Ensure that athletes and coaches adhere to social distancing while not actively involved in practice activities (on the bench, etc.)
If any equipment is provided by the league/coaches, we will minimize equipment sharing and clean and disinfect shared equipment at the end of a practice session
Do not permit athletes to share water bottles, etc.
Whenever possible, larger teams should be broken into smaller groups (which is very common for football practices anyway)
Encourage practice activities that do not involve sustained person-to-person contact between athletes and/or coaching staff and limit such activities in indoor settings.
All Coaches MUST wear mask, as we are interacting with other teams
ALL players are encouraged to wear the splash-shields provided (or an equivalent). We have found that wearing the bottom portion only helps in providing sufficient airflow, and doesn’t impede vision. As an organization, the Mustangs invested $3,200 in these “splash guards” for all football players to ensure all players are equipped.
TEMPERATURE CHECKS will be done for all players and coaches on each team as they enter the field.
COVID waivers will be collected for each player in week #1. This document will attest that all parents understand that they should not be sending their child to a game if they are not feeling well, have been exposed to the virus or have travelled back from a restricted state..
Each team will use their own football when on offense
No team snacks or half-time oranges
No team transportation for away games.
Games will be scheduled at intervals that allow for proper sanitation of facilities and equipment following each game.
Concession stands should meet the requirements for outdoor dining
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Yours in Football & Cheer,
The Massapequa Mustangs Board of Directors
